Wizards have returned to Ravanetha a thousand years after the Mother took her power away. Josiah and Elkan must deal with the overwhelming need for their healing powers, and that's just the beginning. The Matriarch, desperate for an heir, seeks to control them. The Purifiers abhor their familiars as demons. The Dualists consider their powers evil. And every faction hungers to possess vulnerable Tevenar. Meanwhile Ozor is recruiting surgeons and snake-oil salesmen to capitalize on the wizards' fame. Can the wizards navigate the dangerous path that will allow them to save Tevenar from famine and restore the Mother's power to a needy world?

Each book is different yet alike. We have more inventions and more lies and secrets in this book, but we still have healing and wizards and following the Mother's law no matter what. There were more pov characters in this one, but it only added to the tension. When would Nirel be caught in her web of lies? Why does she seem so ready to have everyone killed? When would Vigorre figure out the truth? Bow would the Matriarch react to the wizards this time? Is an enemy of an enemy really a friend? It was all so twisted.
I love that the wizards have to stand on their principles no matter what. No excuses. If someone doesn't want to be healed, you have to let him die. Ah, free will at its worst.
Dualists and Purists are so deviously evil! They seem nice, but they're so full of lies! I know a book is good when I hate the bad guys.
I'm quite excited for the next book.

Beyond the Boundary Stones The Chronicles of Tevenar Book 3 eBook Angela Holder Reviews
And the story goes on. Excellent series.
Another entertaining book in this series. I have enjoyed seeing the characters develop. Definitely a good YA novel that I would recommend to my high school students for summer reading!
Perhaps not great -- but a very worthy installment in the series. No letdown whatsoever from the high grade storytelling of the first books. Looking forward to the next one!
Her writing improves with each book! The characters were well developed and the plot was intriguing. This is a great series for children and young adults. No sexual or overly violent scenes. I will buy the next one!
I have read this entire series and enjoyed it immensely. I am waiting for the next one to be available. Love Angela Holder books and so glad that I happened upon them.
For the most part, the story moves really well. At some points, it does seem to drag a bit and gets a little frustrating with some of the decisions of the characters. Overall, I enjoy this series thus far.
Having read the entire series, I thought this was a worthy addition, as the prose was excellent, the pacing was steady, and the characters were mostly well constructed. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who has read the preceding books, though not as a first read for anyone new to the series.
Unfortunately, there are a few problems with the plot. The factions opposing the wizards are both supernaturally gifted at deception and hopelessly gullible. They form a solid, preconceived notion of the wizards through one short text (that may be forged) and one second hand tale that is an absolute lie, and their position never changes. At all. Despite all the evidence to the contrary, they are easily persuaded to oppose the wizards and yet hold true to each other and their sinister designs while insisting that it is the wizards who are the deceivers while simultaneously inventing deception after deception after deception and finding out continually that their own factions are spinning lies. Everyone who hears the lies is almost instantly convinced, including the Queen. While the writing is top-notch, the central premise of the book is beaten to death while the villains have almost carte blanche in their schemes.
Each book is different yet alike. We have more inventions and more lies and secrets in this book, but we still have healing and wizards and following the Mother's law no matter what.
